Just Friends (Sunny) by Musiq Soulchild Sotd 9

This is so awesome and expresses my feelings to meeting a new girl so well.  I just want to know your name and chill, Just Friends (Sunny) is just that song you approach the right girl with and just keep it real. Musiq is one of my favorites R&B and Soul singer of all time.  This song is such a classic and I will always remember and love.  Musiq lyrics is awesome.  Take a listen if you haven't heard this and enjoy the groove and take a listen his other great songs such as Dont Change, Buddy, Teach Me, and his new single from his new album On My Radio called So Beautiful.  Musiq is such a great artist.

Brief Bio:
Musiq was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is the eldest of nine children. At an early age, Musiq decided he would discontinue his high school education, and left home at 17. It was during that time Musiq started to build a reputation for being musically gifted, beat boxing for MC's, free styling on the open mic circuit, scatting at a jazz club, or just performing a cappella in the streets of Philadelphia, which is where he got the name "Musiq" and later added "Soulchild", which is intended to respect and represent the legacy and traditions of past soul artists. He cites as his inspiration such icons as Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Patti LaBelle, Billie Holiday, Sly & the Family Stone and Ray Charles.[1][2]

Musiq has also earned award nominations from Moard, BET, ASCAP, BMI, and Soul Train.[1]. Musiq Soulchild has had 2 platinum albums, 2 gold albums and 7 hit singles. He has received awards from BillbMTV, American Music Awards, NAACP, and 11 Grammy nominations, including 3 for his 2007 album Luvanmusiq. Besides being a successful recording artist, Musiq is notable for his creative and unique way of titling his albums and songs by ignoring the rules of capitalization, punctuation and spelling.[citation needed]

He is managed by Victor Grieg.[3]

Musiq Soulchild released his debut album, Aijuswanaseing, in 2000. Its lead single was "Just Friends (Sunny)". Musiq's second single "Love" spent 22 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Musiq’s sophomore album, 2002's Juslisen, debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Charts and went platinum. The singles were "Halfcrazy" and "Dontchange".

In 2003, Musiq released his 3rd album, Soulstar. It included the singles "Forthenight" and "Whoknows".

Musiq took a four year break and changed his management to Solqi Management ; as well as his record label from Def Soul to Atlantic Records.

In March 2007, Musiq's released his fourth album Luvanmusiq. Its singles were "B.U.D.D.Y.", "Teachme", and "Makeyouhappy".

At his September 18 concert at the Warfield in San Francisco he announced his fifth album OnMyRadio. It was released on December 2, 2008. The lead single "Radio" was a complete contrast to the usual smooth soul and R&B Musiq fans were accustomed to. The following singles were the duet IfULeave featuring Mary J Blige; and the ballad SoBeautiful. "SoBeautiful" marked the first collaboration between Musiq and the producer JR Hutson, after Hutson had spent "about eight months" trying to get Musiq to come by his studio.[3] According to Hutson, the two plan to work together again.[3]

U Don't Have To Call by Usher Sotd 8

I love this song, usher does his thing so well. P. Diddy pops in for feature in the video which is like Diddy to do so... But this song just makes you feel independent that you can just go out and have a good thing if your chick is playing games, or you just broke up and you just need to cheer up. The dancing in the parking lot in the video and soothing usher vocals and funkiness from his album 8701 is so great. I so recommend a listen to this song album...

Remember the Name by Fort Minor Sotd 7

This is a powerful in hip hop.  Fort Minor though with one album featuring John Legend, Common, Styles of Beyond, and others was a great collection of artists.  Mike Shinoda and Ryu and Tak from Styles of Beyond kick the shiz out of this song.  It's just embodies the struggle to make it into the music industry and make a name for yourself.

Brief Bio:

Fort Minor is a hip-hop side-project of Mike Shinoda, who is best known as being a member of the American rock band Linkin Park. Shinoda's debut solo album as Fort Minor, The Rising Tied was released November 22, 2005, it was met with highly praised reception and even lead to an official fan club named the Fort Minor Militia, which is similar to the Linkin Park fan club, Linkin Park Underground.[1]

He Say She Say by Lupe Fiasco Sotd 6

This song is such a passionate song about a family and the absence of fathers in children lives and has to be one of my greatest Lupe, and one of my favorite songs of all times.  The lyrics are so cool though repetitive, but the message is so powerful.  I thought it was worthy to be the song of the day.  Enjoy.

Brief Bio:

Fiasco was born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco on February 16, 1982[2] in Chicago, Illinois.[3] Born of West African descent,[4] he was one of nine children of Shirley, a gourmet chef, and Gregory, an engineer.[3][5] His father, who was a member of the Black Panther Party,[6] was a prolific African drummer, karate teacher and owner of karate schools and army surplus stores.[7] Fiasco was raised Muslim on the West side of Chicago.[8][9] At the age of three, Fiasco began taking martial arts classes.[10] By age 10, he earned his first black belt.[5] He attended Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois.[11] He initially "hated" hip hop music for its use of vulgarity.[8] He began rapping when he was in the eighth grade, and upon hearing Nas' 1996 album, It Was Written, began to pursue hip hop.[7][9][12]

Growing up, Fiasco was given the nickname "Lu", the last part of his first name, by his mother. "Lupe" is an extension of this nickname, which he borrowed from a friend from high school. "Fiasco," he says, "came from the Firm album. They had the song, 'Firm Fiasco'. I just liked the way it looked on paper."[11]

Dollar and a Dream II by J. Cole Sotd 5

This song is a great song in song writing heaven. It's that relate-able song that all college students would love. At first I thought he was singing a song to a girl for most of J. Cole's songs relate to struggle, or females and other aspiration and reflection. J. Cole is an awesome new artist and I hope him the best. But this song is HOT, one of my favorites off this mixtape. The Song is talking about sally and how he owes her money, take a listen and listen to the word and find out if you know Sally too..

*side note*
Dollar and a Dream II is off J. Cole's mixtape called "The Warm Up" which is a free download and highly recommended mixtape album to get. It's available at www.datpiff.com

Brief Bio:
J. Cole was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and then shortly after moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he was raised by his mother. He is of mixed-race, being born to a Black father and a White mother. Cole attended Terry Sanford High School in Fayetteville, and graduated in 2003. He decided that he had a better chance of getting signed in New York City, so he used college as a way to get there. He attended St. John's University on an academic scholarship where he majored in communication and minored in business, graduating magna cum laude.

Cole started rapping at the age of 12 when his cousin showed him the basics of rhyming. Inspired by Tupac Shakur,Canibus, Nas, and Outkast, J. Cole developed a love for telling stories in his lyrics. At age 15, J. Cole had notebooks filled with rhymes but not beats of his own to lay them on. His mother bought him a beat machine so he could produce music himself. By the age of 17, he was posting songs on Internet forums such as canibus-central.com under the moniker "Therapist".

Resistance by Drake Sotd 4

I love this song.  This have to be my favorite song on drake's debut album Thank Me Later.  The lyrics are so awesome, and it feels like something I would sing and tell about my friends.  For I am creative type of person and my friends always gets a wow from what I usually get myself into and hope I stay the same ol me.  But resistance has to be that song you play on your computer, ipod, blackberry or radio, it's just crazy.
