He Say She Say by Lupe Fiasco Sotd 6

This song is such a passionate song about a family and the absence of fathers in children lives and has to be one of my greatest Lupe, and one of my favorite songs of all times.  The lyrics are so cool though repetitive, but the message is so powerful.  I thought it was worthy to be the song of the day.  Enjoy.

Brief Bio:

Fiasco was born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco on February 16, 1982[2] in Chicago, Illinois.[3] Born of West African descent,[4] he was one of nine children of Shirley, a gourmet chef, and Gregory, an engineer.[3][5] His father, who was a member of the Black Panther Party,[6] was a prolific African drummer, karate teacher and owner of karate schools and army surplus stores.[7] Fiasco was raised Muslim on the West side of Chicago.[8][9] At the age of three, Fiasco began taking martial arts classes.[10] By age 10, he earned his first black belt.[5] He attended Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois.[11] He initially "hated" hip hop music for its use of vulgarity.[8] He began rapping when he was in the eighth grade, and upon hearing Nas' 1996 album, It Was Written, began to pursue hip hop.[7][9][12]

Growing up, Fiasco was given the nickname "Lu", the last part of his first name, by his mother. "Lupe" is an extension of this nickname, which he borrowed from a friend from high school. "Fiasco," he says, "came from the Firm album. They had the song, 'Firm Fiasco'. I just liked the way it looked on paper."[11]

I'm Beamin by Lupe Fiasco - sotd 1 - 3.1.10

Song of the Day:

I'm Beamin by Lupe Fiasco.

This song is type cool, I dig lupe's style on this song. It follows his first single to albums routine...as kick push, superstar and now I'm Beamin. The premise of the song is that people didn't believe in you but then became who you wanted to be.

RAW MP's Top 25 Countdown of 2009 #24 The Die

Richardo’s Top 25 Countdown of 2009

December 2, 2009
Number 24

Song: The Die
Artist: Lupe Fiasco feat. Gemstone
Album: The Cool

The wordplay in this song is crazy. It’s my hype track, Lupe and Gem murdered the lyrics. I really think there was a death of the cool and it is in Hip Hop. But check this song out, if you dig lyrics and storytelling.
